Haiku (look up) written by The Well-being of Book Reading

Have you ever wondered about the version
of you that would write? That one in the future
with an intense desire to jot down stories,
first the easy ones, then ones with more nuanced.

The topics you want to spend your time
thinking about, themes you want to touch,
the message that you care comes from you.

Would you write about your craft?
Maybe a manual or guide for how
to do something or how to grow
some skill or how to become
some type of way in a profession
of your dreams? Or maybe you write
about how to even find
your dreams in the first place.

Would you write about your life,
or parts of your life, or some version
of your life that you cared to live?
Maybe fiction is the way to share
the story, or maybe if you’re braver,
nonfiction becomes the path.
Would you gravitate toward third-person
or would you use the powerful “I”?

Or, would you write with more playfulness
and go after the “you” and the “we” like you’re
in some sort of conversation with the reader,
like what we’re doing now.

Would you write about something more grand?
Some fictional world of characters
on adventures or where there are no rules
of gravity and time.

Where your imagination runs wild
and your heart remains on the ground.

The possibilities are endless!
You can write whatever you want
when you are ready.

When you find the itch.
When you find the life.
When it’s truly time.
