Careers, Reading, and the Places We Can Go!

Once upon a time, there was a Career:
fun, free, and full of vigor.
This Career could do anything, be anything,
go anywhere. Opportunities were endless.
Ideas were infinite. Nothing short of initiative.
One could smell the ambition miles away.
This Career did things with joy —
raw, unbelievable, complete joy.
Efforts started because it was the right
thing to do. Teams created with the best
people with the right skills. All to meet
longer-term, aspirational goals
to make the world better.
This was a glorious time full of superb
expectations and moonshots and relentless rigor.
Then one day, many years later, the world
changed and the Career had to change, too.
Work became work, time became finite,
and growing up was necessary. Business
impact became the focus. And fun subsided.
The Career reflected, “I am more than this.”
Slowly but surely, the Career did things again.
The Career read books. The Career started
running. The Career biked and gardened
and cooked and created art and learned
so many new skills. The Career traveled
to new countries and new places
with all the best people with the right attitudes.
The Career transformed — almost unrecognizably so! —
and Life was never the same.

And, remember: grown ups can read anything they want. 🤓
